The following have been elected to Committee A.Quinn, Tony Alexander, Ray Oliver, B.Wilson,B. Bradshaw, I. Kerslake, T, Roe..
for the year 2011--2012
It continues to be one of the biggest days of the year, if the number of people who attended the dawn service at the LONE PINE Memorial Fort Direction is any indication, also the large number at the 11AM service that followed at the Cenotaph South Arm. All these people followed the trend enjoying the breakfast at the South Arm RSL & Community Club Inc. Then after a large number spent the day at the Club with friends entertained by the Australian Singers Quire to the old songs that many serviceman remember from 1939-1945, to the Quire we say thank you. Also to the Clarence City Band who have now been supporting the South Arm RSL at the Service we say thank you. To make the day such a success as it has now been for many years. The schools, Scouts, Returned Serviceman and the general public thank you for your attendance.
Below are the band of hard working girls who have helped in many ways so we all enjoyed the breakfast following the Dawn Service.Pleased to see a couple of new faces in the group this year.
CLICK HERE To VIEW PHOTOSI am trying to contact all RSL Tasmanian Sub Branches to let you know my dad died in 2000 but he painted over 300 pictures in Changi as a POW, mostly humorous. Dad told us he painted to keep his sanity. After the war he was trained as an artist and retired as the Principal of the SA School of Art.These pictures have sat in his cupboard for over 60 years!!
We have just scanned these and paid to have a website developed so others can view them, just in time for the 70th Anniversary of the Fall of Singapore on 15 Feb 2012 (Lest We Forget).Keith
